Meet Lynette Armstrong

My journey in nutrition has been incredibly dynamic and continues to surprise and challenge me. It started when my high school started a dual course in food science and biochemistry. I loved how science and food came together! I knew that wherever my career path led it would include food and my core desire to serve people in some capacity. I spent most of my formative years working and volunteering for non-profit organizations. Thankfully, the field of dietetics has given me both, providing space for my many skills in my varied experiences.

Who is Lynette Armstrong?

I live in Sandy Springs, Georgia, a northern suburb of Atlanta with my three children. I grew up in Indiana, which is a generally flat region covered in soy and corn crops. While I appreciate coming up in this geography, I am in awe of how beautiful the Georgian landscape is. It has cultivated a love of hiking as one of my favorite hobbies since moving here 13 years ago.

My past includes experience with non-profit organizations, public health research, urban farming, advocacy, food justice, development coordination, and six years as a WIC Nutritionist. I have provided nutrition counseling, lactation support, needs assessments, event coordination, nutrition education classes and communications, and worked closely with groups in need of consultive expertise in order to thrive. Each of these experiences, I feel very strongly, prepared me for the role that I am currently in now. At my core, I always want to be available to serve others in the best way possible.

I look forward to using my experience to increase The Dairy Alliance’s connection with people of color and share all of the nutritional benefits dairy has to offer. Knowing that my role as a community wellness manager will allow me to both support the health of others and help hardworking dairy farmers in the Southeast region continue to thrive is hugely gratifying!

She is currently slated to take her RD exam this spring to gain her credentials as a registered dietitian. In addition to hiking, she enjoys running, watching her favorite TV show ‘The Office’ and movies, reading, and spending time with her three teenage children, extended family, and friends.
