Make the Grade with the Health Benefits of Milk

A school cafeteria is an easy way for students to reap the health benefits of milk. The start of each school year can be stressful, so take meal prep off your plate and have your student try breakfast and lunch at school. School cafeterias serve a variety of healthy options, helping students develop lifelong good eating habits, like enjoying nutrient-rich dairy milk and foods.

Milk offers students 13 essential nutrients like protein, calcium, and vitamin D to support children’s growing minds and bodies. One 8-ounce serving of milk provides 8 grams of complete, high-quality protein to help your student stay full and focused throughout the school day. Most school districts serve both flavored and unflavored milk, so there’s something for every student.

Health Benefits of Chocolate Milk

Milk, especially chocolate, is great for hydration.

In addition to breakfast and lunch, many school districts operate after-school snack programs. These programs help students rehydrate and recover from a day of exertion. Our district serves the band, volleyball, cheer, football, and basketball teams in addition to other afterschool activities. Chocolate milk and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are student favorites for afterschool snacks.

Set your student up for success this semester by checking with your school district to see what nutrition programs they offer.
