Many farmers in the Southeast offer their local communities fun opportunities to visit the farm. Some of these opportunities include on-farm stores that sell local products, farm tours for the entire family, and special events offering nostalgic fun with corn mazes, live music, and more. This fall, discover some of the dairy farms in the Southeast ready to provide plenty of fun for everyone in the family.
Richlands Dairy and Creamery
Richlands Dairy is a third-generation dairy farm in Dinwiddie, Virginia, that bottles its own milk and makes ice cream. The Jones family has an on-farm store where visitors can purchase their products. They often host events on the farm, such as classic car cruise-ins and cookie decorating classes. Simply Natural Creamery
Simply Natural Creamery in Ayden, North Carolina, makes its own milk, butter, and ice cream from the farm's herd of Jersey cows. All products can be purchased at the farm store. From March to November, farm tours are available for guests. New this year is Sally’s Dairyland, a kid's play area featuring slides, swings, and a jumping pillow. Hickory Hill Milk
Hickory Hill Milk in Edgefield, South Carolina, bottles milk from its Holstein cows on land that has been in the family since the 1700s! Milk is available at the farm and they also offer guided tours in the spring and fall. (Please note that farm tours require reservations. Tour reservations and additional information are available on their website.) For anyone looking to make fall plans, October is a busy time at Hickory Hill. This is when the farm hosts Fall Farm Nights with live music, tours, and a corn maze.
Hillcrest Farms
Hillcrest Farms in Dearing, Georgia, is owned and operated by the fourth-generation Rodgers dairy farming family, with the farm in operation since 1941. They are one of the few farms where you can visit and watch cows be milked by robots! Hillcrest Farms offers tours for groups year round and give a trolley ride to get a view of all parts of the farm and see firsthand a day in the life of a dairy farmer and the life of a dairy cow.
