Mocha Milkshakes Are a Chocolate & Coffee Dream

You never have to worry about the afternoon slump with this sweet treat that you can never have enough of. This recipe is a twist on your normal cup of coffee - adding ice cream! Did you know it takes 3 gallons of milk to produce 1 gallon of ice cream? This meaning one cow can produce on average 2-3 gallons of ice cream per day! Summer is well and truly here and as the warmer weather approaches, this milkshake will cool you down while also picking you up.

Coffee may even be good for you. The combination of the protein in milk and antioxidants including polyphenols in coffee makes immune cells twice as effective at fighting inflammation - what's better than that? A study conducted by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) examined over 400,000 men and women aged 50 to 71 in the United States and found that coffee drinkers have a lower risk of death overall than those who don’t consume their morning cup of joe. This recipe is super simple to make with just 4 main ingredients this caffeine milkshake is sure to perk you up. It's thick and creamy, but not overly sweet, with the bitterness of the coffee and chocolate balancing out the sweet vanilla ice cream.  You could even swap out the vanilla ice cream for coffee or chocolate ice cream to intensify the flavor!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream

  • 1/2 cup chopped milk chocolate

  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee or cold brew

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Using a blender, combine ice cream, chocolate, coffee and vanilla extract.

  2. Blend until smooth.

  3. Pour into milkshake glass and garnish with chocolate curls or chopped chocolate pieces.
